He arrived in the United States from a cattle farm in Brazil with just $50 in his pocket. He took every job he could find, learned the country from the ground up, and in 1998 founded the Nelson Group. What started as one venture grew into a family of thriving businesses across construction, real estate, investment, hospitality, and finance. Including Alma Gaúcha Brazilian Prime Steakhouse, now open in both Boston and Worcester, bringing the flavors and soul of his homeland to New England.
But what drives Nelson has never really been business. It’s people. Through The Nelson Foundation in Malawi, Africa, he works to give children access to education, food, and clothing, because he knows firsthand what it means to start with very little.
Between leading his companies, supporting his foundation, flying as a licensed pilot, and traveling the world with his family, Nelson lives by the same principle he always has: that how you treat people matters more than anything you could ever build.
