Introducing The Perrelet Peripheral Double Rotor, Complete With A New In-House Movement (Live Pics, Specs, Pricing)

Perrelet has put a new spin on their signature turbine with the Peripheral Double Rotor - and this time it's all in-house. The Peripheral Double Rotor is the first collection featuring the new Alternance 10 (A10) caliber, and here is a closer look at what this means in both the short and long term for Perrelet.

Looking at the Peripheral Double Rotor, the first thing you'll notice is that the turbine feature is much more subtle than in previous Perrelet models. Cut-outs around the hour markers allow slivers of the name-sake turbine peripheral rotor to show through. This is the upper rotor, but there is also a lower rotor (hence Peripheral Double Rotor), which features Côtes de Genève and is skeletonized with a Perrelet "P" so you can see the "P" tapestry pattern on the bridges underneath. There is great depth visible both on the dial and on the case back, making a big visual impression with the movement at the center of it all.

The A10 Movement with double rotors

Speaking of which, like we mentioned above, the new A10 caliber is a completely in-house manufacture-made movement. Perrelet works with other Festina Group brands to produce the movements at the Soprod facility, but it has been designed by them, for them, from the ground up. It's obviously a big step for the brand, evidence of Perrelet's continued growth in the right direction.

Perrelet has released a basic collection of A10-equipped Peripheral Double Rotors to start. Though the A10 can be equipped with a number of complications, including a chronograph module, large date, dual time zone, and a few others, this first collection will be exclusively three-hand with a small date at 6 o'clock. These are all housed in 42mm cut-corner cushion cases, in steel, DLC-coated steel, and 18k gold. All the dials have a tapisserie pattern in the center, and various dial/marker color combinations give you some options.

Pricing for the new Peripheral Double Rotor will start at $4500 in steel and $5300 in DLC, which is not a bad place to be for a good-looking fake watch with a newly designed in-house caliber. To take a look at this and the other Perrelet offerings, click here.
