Pinion Axis Black
Starting a fake watch company from scratch is no small task. From the initial concept to design and manufacture, there are always challenges along the way. With years of digital design under his belt, Piers Berry took this head on by starting the Pinion fake watch Company. The UK-based company's first release is the Pinion Axis, a handsome and solidly-built casual fake watch that wouldn't be out of place on your wrist while reading Noam Chomsky, fireside, in a Craftsman-style home in the Pacific North West. Or while taking the subway to work, like the rest of us.
Pinion Axis Steel On The Wrist
The Pinion Axis launched at the 2013 SalonQP in London (after Berry spent a week manically driving around the UK to finalize show-ready prototypes). Before launch, Berry presented the media with CGI renderings of the Axis in lieu of prototypes which were not quite ready. Despite some hate from the forums for the lack of an actual prototype (surprise, surprise), overall reception was quite strong.
Closer Look At The Pinion Axis Steel
Powering the Axis is an automatic ETA 2824-2 movement with 38-hour power reserve selected for its accuracy and dependability compared to similar movements. On the very legible dial, a small aperture for the date sits between 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock, aligned parallel to the slim baton-style indices. These indices, hands, and four large numerals (12, 3, 6, and 9) feature Swiss Superluminova luminous coating.

The Axis case comes in at 42mm-on the larger side of things-but more than reasonable considering the utilitarian nature of the watch. Each water-resistant case (10 ATM) is fashioned from a single block of metal, whether brushed stainless steel, bronze, or a more modern steel with matte black DLC coating.
Pinion Axis Bronze
Along with the replica watches themselves, Pinion is also launching a collection of fake watch straps made in the UK. One of these hand-made straps comes with each watch, measuring 22mm and tapering to 20mm at the buckle. The complete collection of straps is set to include versions in nylon, exotic leathers, and what they claim will be "the best leather Nato strap you'll ever wear.?We'll update you on this as soon as we get our hands on one.
Pinion Axis Steel
The Pinion Axis will be available in January 2014, priced at $2,285 in stainless steel, with DLC black and bronze retailing for $3,095 and $3,370, respectively. Though the collection is not limited edition, as an added bonus before the launch of the online store, Pinon is allowing clients to reserve preferred case numbers (1-100) if you're keen to have your favorite number on your wrist.
